Deck staining that lasts more than one Florida summer
The most common deck we see in Gainesville is pressure-treated pine that was stained once by the builder and never again. It has gone gray, the boards have raised grain, and there is green mildew on the shaded side. A film-forming stain rolled over that will peel. Our process cleans the wood, brightens it to restore the natural color and open the grain, sands rough boards, and then applies a penetrating oil or hybrid stain that soaks in. Back-brushing works it into the grain so it bonds instead of sitting on top.
